Tuscan Dreams

We rented an adorable villa in a small town outside of Florence. It was on an old little estate where the owners still make their own wine and olive oil so we were right among the vineyards and olive groves. Floor to ceiling arched windows gave us stunning views of the countryside.

We rented a car while staying in Italy and it was the best decision we made!  The freedom to open the map and just drive lead to discoveries of quaint, medieval towns and beautiful vistas.  And we could take our time because we were on our own schedule...it was great!  Next up, Pisa!

San Gimignano is one of my very favorite Tuscan towns.  As you get closer to the town, you begin to see the unique multi-towered skyline in the distance (sometimes called the Manhattan of Tuscany).  The towers of San Gimignano are absolutely amazing.  The history involves the tower's use as defense and intimidation between outsiders and even among the neighbors inside the town.  Aside from the towers, there are many churches and piazzas.  San Gimignano is know for it's beautiful painted pottery and white wine.
