Small beginnings, big dreams

I have always been drawn to photography. It's in my blood. My dad was a better than average amateur photographer who developed his own photos in a makeshift darkroom in our house. I don't know why I waited so long to really delve into it, but I finally did in 2010 and it has awakened a deep desire to capture the images I see in my own perspective. It's like putting my stamp on the world: 'I was here and this is what I saw'! Even before I bought my camera I was like a sponge absorbing as much information about photography as possible every spare minute I had. I checked out every single book my library had on photography and spent hours scouring the internet. I made sure I understood aperture, shutter, ISO, and white balance and how they affect each other before I ever even picked up a DSLR. And when I finally did get one I hit the ground running and haven't stopped since.

I am most inspired by the breathtaking beauty of nature. I want to travel across America and around the world. In late 2010 I was able to visit Zion, Bryce, Antelope, Glen and Grand Canyons and I was blown away by the unique landscapes I saw and grateful to be able to capture those images. It gave me an itch to visit all of our amazing National Parks in the future. Later this year my husband and I hope to 'redo' our honeymoon in Italy which is a photographer's dream. Our honeymoon was in 2001 and I was shooting 35mm on a cheap camera back then! I also hope to visit Iceland soon and see the amazing hot springs, waterfalls and glaciers there. But when I can't get away I look forward to every new season here in New England and the way it changes the scenery all around me. I am just about ready to get a new macro/portrait lens which I am looking forward to shooting spring blossoms with. Weekend trips into Boston and Cape Cod during the summer should offer plenty of picturesque photo ops. And I've had Franconia Notch on my list for the last few years to visit during the brilliance of Autumn.

What is your passion and where does it take you?
